History of Troubles in Paradise

I am Hilde Provost and share my house with lovely English Cocker Spaniels.

All my life I have been very interested in all creatures, great and small.

The first dog came in my life when I was 8 years old.

Fistus was a cross labrador with ???

Sadly enough he did not stay very long with us and it was until I got married in 1984 that I bought my first dog, a Yorkshire Terrier called  Fie.

I started to buy all the books I found about dogs and visited as many dogshows as possible.

Now I became very interested in dog-breeds and my Yorshire Terrier had her first litter of which I kept a daughter Tess.

In 1986  I bought a Bearded Collie. She was already 4 months old and had never left the sheepsfarm she was born on.

Both parents had pedigrees but the farmer did not want to do all the fuss to register the litter.

She was very “shy” and I could never show her.

Then I adopted a 6 years old Bobtail : Shaggy, who had to leave his home due to a “too busy” family.

She was 13 when she died, and had a nice and quiet life with me.

In between all this I was already active in the obedience-club, showtraining, grooming classes, and attended to all the seminars about dogs, breeding, showing,  as much as possible.

I learned a lot from visiting and listening to a lot of different breeders and their litters.

Since 1990 my 5-days holiday to Crufts is my yearly pelgrimage that I did not skip once since then.

In 1992 I bought my first English Cocker of 10 months old, from a couple who got divorced.

She was a light blue roan Tchitchikakobas Penelope.

This was my first own dog that I started showing, but unfortunately she died of FN in march 1993, only 18 months old.

In August 1993 I bought a new puppy, again a blue roan.

She came from mrs Marianne Pagen, Von Haus Page, a breeder with a lot of experience in the breed, that I became friends with on our coachtrips to Crufts.

Raiza Von Haus Page, Ruby, was the mother and founder of almost all my later Cockers.

Ruby did very well on shows and the first TROUBLES IN PARADISE ( T.I.P.) Cockers were born om 15 January 1995.  Father of the puppies was CH. Stockdale Dragon’s Sonata .

Daughter T.I.P. Ukedien stayed with me.

2000 Ukedien had a litter with RUDENWOOD VERDI (liverroan).

Of this litter I kept T.I.P. ZACHARY  and T.I.P. ZENOBIE.

This was a very beautifull litter as 3 puppys, (also  T.I.P. Zilvester) did a lot of showing and all won CAC and CACIB's.

Zachary is my first Champion, and I was very proud as it was my own breeding.

In between, the group was joined by a Clumber Spaniel in 1995, Stacey Of Blue Silver Shadow.

She did some shows and died at 9,5 years of age.

In 1997 the house was filled again by a big, hairy dog : Otterhound KOLA BY KINGSTREES, aka PHOEBE.  She came of a very famous kennel : John and Judith Ashworth in England .

A lovely bitch which gave me a lot of pleasure at home and on shows.

In the house she behaved as a Cocker Spaniel, as she was living with 5 of them.

Some of her winnings : 2x World Champion, BIS at the CC-Clubshow in England,  2 x Crufts, placed with the first 3 ……

Sadly enough she died much too early of a very agressive cancer at 5,5 years old.

Maybe one day a new one will join us?

In between I became very active in the Belgian English Cockerclub of which I am also in the comité now.

2003 I bought a blue roan bitch by Gerda Van Empel : Nickel and Dimes FAZLEBY.

2005  Fazleby became the sweetheart of Zachary and their litter was born in August.

Their son T.I.P. EAGHANN stayed with me.

2007  busy year : May: 2 litters in 1 week :

Nickel and Dimes Fazleby  X   CH. Vignoble Champenois de Quadragant

Of this litter i held the orange roan dog T.I.P. GALPHAY

Troubles In Paradise Zenobie   X   CH. Vignoble Champenois de Quadragant.

Here I kept the blue-roan-with-tan  bitch T.I.P. GWENWHYFAR.

2008 started hectic as very unexpected 3 Cockers joined my pack.

When Bertie Vleeming died ( MOONSHADOW’S kennel).  We had to rehome all her Cockers.

The 3 blue roans arrived here and I decided to keep them :MOONSHADOW'S PLEASED TO MEET YOU (Stella),   LOVE AFFAIR (Lara)   and PRINCE CHARMING.

They all adapted very well and I started to show them, as they had done it before. That went very well and even Prince Charming became Luxemburg Champion in September 2009.

October  : Stella had a litter with T.I.P. Eaghann and I kept a blue-raon bitch T.I.P. HATHAWAY, who is also LUX. Champion now.

Also in July 2008 Nickel and Dimes Fazleby and Lux.Ch. Moonshadow’s Prince Charming had a litter.

Sadly in November, I had to say goodbye to Fazleby as she died of cancer of the hormonal glands, lymphona knots.

2010 :  AUGUST: after 2 years, again 2 litters in 1 week:

 T.I.P.  GWENWHYFAR  X  Lux.Ch. T.I.P.  GALPHAY

Here I kept the white-orange bitch T.I.P. JIMJAMS, who loves showing and already had 1 BOB at the age of 14 months.

MOONSHADOW’S LOVE AFFAIR  X  Lux.Ch. T.I.P.  GALPHAY

Of this litter T.I.P. JEZEBEL went to Sarah Finet.

Jezebel is also doing very well at shows.

September 2010 : 2 champions in 1 show !

At Luxemburg CACIB-show :

T.I.P. Hathaway and T.I.P. Galphay both became Luxembourg Champion.

2011 :

AUGUST : had to say goodbye to T.I.P.Zenobie, 11,5 years old.

Bye bye my little mouse with your big hart !!

2012 : No litters were born but I did a lot of showing with Jimjams and Prince.

November 1st, we drove up to Scotland to meet the lovely wee man that I fell in love with in Dublin 2009 !

2013 :

Startet with a “bang” !

On New-Years-evening Hathaway gave birth to the “Mac-litter”: 3 boys and 4 girls.

Father is Scotchman Sh Ch Shanaz Sporran.

3 puppys are staying here : Mac-Sporran,  Mac-Thistle and Mac-Illtellmema.

On April 2nd, i had to say goodbye to Lara, Moonshadow's Love Affair.

In August we did a very pleasant trip to Ireland, the Munster Circuit, 5 shows in 8 days. Jimjams and Mac-Sporran got excellent results at all the shows.

20 September, Gwenwhyfar has 1 puppy, Mollymalone, but what a special one she turns out to be !

7 November : had to say goodbye to Zachary, 13.5 years old.

Goodbye my first, best and bravest boy of all !

2014

Busy year showing the young Cockers.

2015

9 March, had to say goodbye to T.I.P. Gwenwhyfar who died suddenly of a very aggresive tumor in the lungs.

Summertime was puppy-time : 24 July, 4 puppies of Jimjams and Sporran are born.

26 November : 2 puppies of  Mollymalone and Sporran are born.

7 December :4 puppies of Hathaway and Alfie (Zakova Romeo) are born.
